Black Bloom Studio offers customized Scalp Micropigmentation and Hair Loss Restoration Tattooing designed to subtly improve the appearance of thinning hair and visible scalp while maintaining a natural, realistic appearance.
Specializing in realistic hair strokes, fine tattooed strands are blended throughout areas of existing hair to mimic natural growth patterns and create the appearance of added density. The scalp is intentionally not oversaturated, allowing natural variation and some visible scalp to remain for a softer, more believable result. This technique is best suited for mild to moderate thinning and is not intended to completely camouflage extensive or full hair loss.

REALISTIC HAIR-STROKE TECHNIQUE
Scalp Micropigmentation is traditionally known for using small pigment impressions to mimic the appearance of shaved hair follicles. At Black Bloom Studio, our approach focuses primarily on realistic hair-stroke tattooing for clients who still have existing hair and want to soften the appearance of thinning or sparse areas.
Fine hair-like strokes are strategically blended between natural hairs to create subtle visual density without oversaturating the scalp. Small amounts of traditional follicle shading or pixelation may be incorporated when needed for additional depth, while realistic hair strokes remain the focus for a softer, more natural appearance.
NATURAL PATTERN & COLOR MATCHING
Scalp Micropigmentation can be customized for both men and women experiencing mild to moderate thinning, a receding hairline, sparse temples or areas where the scalp has become more visible through existing hair.
Every treatment is designed around your natural hair color, growth direction, density and individual hair-loss pattern. Hair strokes can remain lighter and more sparse along exposed edges and gradually become more defined as they blend into thicker areas. The goal is not complete coverage, but a subtle transition that helps existing hair appear naturally fuller and more balanced.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION SERVICE?
Before booking, we recommend reviewing all pre-care and aftercare instructions and sending a clear selfie of your thinning or treatment area to Tattoo Artist Breanna Joy. This allows us to review your hair-loss pattern and desired results before your appointment. Details for submitting photos can be found in the Digital Pre-Draw section above.
Scalp Micropigmentation at Black Bloom Studio is best suited for mild to moderate hair loss where natural hair is still present throughout or surrounding the treatment area. Realistic tattooed hair strokes can be blended between existing hairs to reduce the contrast of visible scalp and create the appearance of additional density.
Areas with significant or complete hair loss can be more difficult to camouflage naturally with hair strokes alone. Our goal is not to completely cover a bald area or create an artificial head of hair, but to subtly improve thinner areas while maintaining visible scalp and natural variation.
Before tattooing begins, your scalp, natural hair growth and areas of thinning are evaluated. The treatment area is lightly mapped to establish where additional density will look the most natural.
Hair strokes are designed to follow the direction, movement, color and density of your existing hair. Softer, more sparse strokes are typically used around exposed edges, gradually blending into areas with greater natural density. Small amounts of follicle-style pigmentation or pixelation may also be incorporated when needed to create additional depth.
Your appointment begins by reviewing your desired results, hair-loss pattern and treatment area. A pencil pre-draw and mapping will be created to establish the placement, direction and density of your hair-stroke pattern before tattooing begins.
The scalp is tattooed in small sections so the pattern can be gradually blended with your natural hair. Topical anesthetic may be used and reapplied in small amounts throughout the service as needed. Larger appointments may take approximately 3–4 hours of tattooing, with additional time reserved for mapping, consultation and breaks.
At the end of your appointment, you’ll receive an aftercare kit and detailed healing instructions to take home.
After your complementary touch-in, we recommend getting a touch-up every 2-3 years.Scalp Micropigmentation starts at $600 and includes your initial treatment and one complimentary touch-up session. Your second session allows us to evaluate the healed pigment, reinforce hair strokes where needed and make subtle adjustments to the color, pattern or density.
Your complimentary touch-up must be completed within 4 months of your initial appointment. Additional sessions or future maintenance are not included and may be recommended depending on your individual results.
